New road signs have been erected near Melton Mowbray to remind drivers of the restrictions that are in place to reduce the spread of bird flu.

For info, from the Centrebus website:From Wednesday 18th November, service 100 will only operate on Tuesday and Friday. There will be no service on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and at Weekends.This reduction has been necessary due to the implications of the covid pandemic and a reduction in the number of staff available to operate services.We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Woodland maintenance

The Ernest Cook Trust will begin thinning the woodland on the Rise Hills, to the NE of Burrough Hill Country Park, this week. They are expecting this to last for approximately 2 – 3 weeks. The work forms part of the routine maintenance carried out in accordance with their 10-year woodland management plan. Discretionary Business Grants Fund is open for a second round of applications

Melton Borough Council has announced it will run another round of the Discretionary Business Grants scheme to support local businesses.

The council launched the first round of this scheme in June 2020 and recently made payments to 95 businesses, allocating over £457,000 through this process. This builds on the £10.2m paid to 855 businesses through the government's earlier grants schemes.... Read More »
