The Future of Passenger Transport in Leicestershire

The county council has developed a new Passenger Transport Policy and Strategy (PTPS) to ensure its passenger transport provision is fit for purpose and cost-effective. All of the council's supported local bus services are being reviewed against the Policy and Strategy.

In the Melton area, the council supports 11 bus services at a cost of over £800,000 per year. These 11 services have been reviewed as a whole and the intended course of action will be a mix of some services remaining as they are, revised routes and frequencies for other services and demand responsive transport (DRT) for certain areas.

At public engagement events throughout November, the council will outline the intended course of action for each service and the full details of the policy and strategy.
