Message from Leicestershire Police

Dear Residents

Melton Police have had a number of incidents reported to us today of people receiving calls from fraudsters claiming to be police officers. These people have then requested money to be withdrawn from their bank accounts, the fraudsters then say an officer will be round to collect the money from them.

Please be vigilant, Police officers will not ask you to withdraw money !

Police officers will not ask you for any bank account details !

Police will not collect money from you. !

If you feel like something is wrong use another phone to call 101 or 999 to confirm the officers details are correct.

If a police officer attends your address, they always carry a warrant card which you can request to see if you feel you need to.

If you have been a victim of this crime please call police on 101 or use our online service.

If you have elderly relatives that may not use social media please make them aware of this type of fraud.
